Why a CFP
CFP® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ are certification marks to help you identify financial planners who are committed to competent and ethical behavior when providing financial planning. Individuals certified by the CFP® Board have taken the extra step to show their professionalism by voluntarily submitting to the arduous CFP® certification process that includes demanding education, examination, experience and ethical requirements. These standards are called “the four E's,” and they are four important reasons why the financial planning practitioner you select should display the CFP® certification marks.
When you work with a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, you should expect to receive services that are conducted ethically, with integrity, objectivity, honesty and diligence. You deserve to have your interests placed ahead of the interests of your financial planner.
The CFP Board takes seriously its obligation to enforce those standards and has established disciplinary procedures that provide a rigorous and fair process for investigating questionable matters and imposing discipline where appropriate.
